Hygiene and Personal Care

Global Nonwoven Solutions for the Hygiene and Personal Care Industry

As Microfiber Textile, we provide the most advanced technological solutions to hygiene sector manufacturers worldwide for the production of baby diapers, sanitary pads, adult incontinence products, and bed protectors, with our multilingual professional support.

Nonwoven fabrics used in hygiene products are critical components that come into direct contact with the end consumer's skin. From the topsheet layer to the backsheet layer that provides a liquid barrier, and from the core wrap surrounding the absorbent core to the leg cuff barrier, every part requires specific technical qualities. Our OekoTex certified PP Spunbond fabrics fully meet all international standard requirements with their soft texture, homogeneous surface structure, and high absorption capacity.

Hygiene Product Components

Each hygienic product consists of various nonwoven layers that undertake different functional tasks.

The hygiene sector is the market with the highest volume of nonwoven fabric usage worldwide. In baby diaper production, more than 5 different nonwoven layers are used in a single product; the basis weight, hand-feel, liquid permeability, and mechanical strength of each are specially designed.

In the topsheet layer, soft-textured fabrics that have undergone hydrophilic treatment ensure the rapid transmission of liquid to the absorbent core. In the backsheet layer, hydrophobic fabrics prevent liquid leakage. High elasticity and superior liquid retention capacity are essential in leg cuff barriers. Fabrics used as core wrap maintain the integrity of the absorbent core while allowing liquid flow. We export to global markets for all these layers with various basis weight, application, and width options.

With our international standard laboratory infrastructure and inline camera inspection system, we flawlessly ensure the strict quality criteria expected by the global hygiene sector in every production batch.

Areas of Use

Baby diapers (topsheet, backsheet, leg cuff, core wrap, dusting layer), feminine sanitary pads, adult incontinence products, bed protector sheets, underpads, fluff pulp carrier layers.

Frequently Asked Questions

01. What is the difference between topsheet and backsheet?

The topsheet is the top surface of the hygiene product that touches the skin; it is hydrophilically treated to quickly transfer liquid to the absorbent core and provide a dry feeling on the surface. The backsheet is the bottom surface of the product; it is a barrier layer with hydrophobic properties that prevents liquid from leaking out. The two layers complement each other to form the core function of the hygiene product.

The basis weights used in baby diaper components vary according to the layer. Ranges of 10–15 gsm for the topsheet, 12–20 gsm for the backsheet, 15–22 gsm for the leg cuff barrier, and 10–16 gsm for the core wrap are generally preferred. Basis weight optimization can be performed with our technical team according to specific project requirements.

A soft touch is achieved through a combination of fine denier filament usage, special calender pattern selection, and finishing applications. Our fabrics, which offer high opacity and a silky feel even at low basis weights, meet the requirements of premium-class hygiene products. Our OekoTex certificate guarantees the skin safety of these fabrics.
